Press-in Technology (Eco- friendly Piling Works), Construction Revolution and Disaster Recovery Technology

According to United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Tokyo reported about Silent Piler and its Piling Method. Giken manufactures a piling machine called Silent Piler and offers various construction technologies with the Press-in Method, worldwide. The Silent Piler™ characteristics, including but are not limited to, low noise, no vibration, and compactness, allow working in constrained areas, such as overwater, restricted headroom, and construction sites along with existing buildings.
One of the representative Press-in Methods, the Non-Staging Method, provides benefit to the total construction work as it allows the installation of piles without a temporary stage, and hence reduces the construction cost and period.

Press-in Principle

The Silent Piler grips the previously installed piles with the hydraulically operated Clamps. The next pile is then gripped by the Chuck at the press-in point and jacked into the ground with the static load generated by the hydraulic rams.
During the jacking, penetration resistance comprising of skin friction, toe resistance, and interlock resistance occur. It has the effect to convert a press-in force to a reactive lifting force but it is a greater force, provided by the extraction resistance of the reaction piles that resist this. Consequently, the down-stroke force acts on the pile to penetrate the ground.

Major Features and Advantages

  1. The press-in Method will not generate environmental pollution from construction such as noise and vibration.
  2. Silent Piler is so light and compact that the extent of the piling activities can be minimized.
  3. Pre-fabricated piles produced at the plant are pressed-in directly, so high-quality completed piles can be built with peace of mind.
  4. Multiple sets of compact machines and apparatuses can be used at the same time to greatly shorten the construction period.
  5. Speedy piling progress is available because there are the least limits in working hours even at highly restricted areas and night works.
  6. All machines are so compact that it is not necessary to completely close active traffics.
  7. The performance of piles can be checked and controlled during the construction, allowing high-quality completed piles to be built

Extraction of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) parts in La Mesa Watershed Payatas, Quezon City by 180 tons Crawler Crane

The Philippines is rich in raw water resources, which is composed of 421 major river basins in 119 proclaimed watersheds. Together with 61 major lakes, these accumulate runoffs from rains averaging 2,400 millimeters annually. The country’s groundwater reservoirs are estimated to cover about 50,000 square kilometers, while its reliable surface water supply is estimated at 833 million cubic meters per day.

However, the imminent threat of climate change and the increase in demand and competing use for water contribute to the pressing need for efficient management of the resource. To secure the backup capability of the water supply system and in order to meet increased demands, First Balfour, together with its joint venture partners CMC di Ravenna of Italy and Chun Wo Construction & Engineering of Hong Kong, entered into a contract with Manila Water Company, Inc (Manila Water) to design and construct the PhP 5.3 billion Novaliches-Balara Aqueduct 4 (NBAQ4) project.

the TBM exit shaft at La Mesa, where the intake tower will be built.

The NBAQ4 project is one of the largest water supply infrastructure projects ever undertaken by Manila Water, entails the construction of a fourth aqueduct from the La Mesa Reservoir to the Balara Treatment Plants (BTP) 1 and 2 to improve the reliability and security of the raw water transmission system – the first time in the Philippines a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) will be used in an urban setting and to build the aqueduct.

Mayon Machinery has done its duty to lift TBM parts and lift people in La Mesa Watershed Payatas, Quezon City.

What’s The Trend of the Philippines Heavy Equipment Rental Industry?

The trend of renting instead of purchasing heavy machinery has proven to be beneficial for companies of all sizes across numerous industries, less administrative overhead along with reduced expense and maintenance anticipated to drive the Philippines heavy equipment rental industry during Covid-19.

To what extent is the Covid-19-induced recession impacting rental industry in the Philippines?

The coronavirus pandemic has led to an immediate drop in purchasing spending from the aviation industry, industrial, construction, transportation & government project spending. They have to deal with the budgetary needs while their business to a halt for lost demand (or purchasing power) by the onslaught of the pandemic. The rental rates of the Philippine rental equipment market have down slightly in 2020-2021. At the same time, however, the disruption of the pandemic is giving rise to new opportunities, and the rental market has the chance to establish a firstmover advantage as the customers rent the equipment instead of purchasing new one more than ever before.

The rental equipment market can be segmented on the basis of type (Party and Event equipment, General Tools & Construction and Industrial Equipment) and industry (Oil & Gas Industry, Construction Industry, Mining Industry & Power Industry). The construction and Industrial rental equipment market can be further segmented on the basis of type (Earthmoving Machinery, Material Handling Machinery, MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) and Concrete Road Construction).

Let’s take a look with us at Rental’s role through three of the most significant advantages:

Rental Advantage #1 – Cash Flow Management

One of rental’s biggest impacts is flexibility in managing cash flow. Payments on a purchased machine must be made whether the machine is being used or not. If available jobs shift and the machine is no longer needed, it can quickly become a troubling liability. When the backlog is uncertain, rental eliminates the capital investment required for a purchase and contractors can return unneeded machines if jobs change.

Rental Advantage #2 – Nimble Equipment Fleet

Speaking of jobs changing, that same flexibility allows for quick restructuring of an equipment fleet. Part of the creative adaptation to uncertainty means contractors may look to take on different types of jobs, ones they may not have historically pursued. Often, this may mean acquiring equipment not typically found in the fleet. By augmenting a fleet with rental machines, equipment can be swapped and added quickly while tying up less cash than in an entirely owned fleet.

Rental Advantage #3 – Renting to Own

Even amid uncertainty, thinking strategically means looking beyond just today. With many rental providers offering rent-to-purchase options, contractors can manage through short-term uncertainty while still adhering to a long-term plan. If the odds are likely that a rented machine will be purchased later, terms and pricing can be built into the rental agreement, allowing customers to invest in the eventual purchase while renting the machine.

Having been in the Philippines rental market for over 7 years and experience from the large mother company in Japan for more than 60 years, Mayon Machinery has made a commitment to deliver the highest quality of equipment and the best service to ensure your complete satisfaction.

Have you got a short-term/long-term equipment rental need now? Consult us today! We will be glad to serve you.
